Our Mission

This mission of Highland ISD is to:

  • Educate every student by combining the wisdom of yesterday, the technology of today, and the vision for tomorrow to develop within each student strong moral character, high self-esteem, and the desire to succeed.

  • Encourage parental and community involvement in the educational process.

  • Demonstrate responsibility to the community through sound fiscal management and open communications.

About Us

Highland ISD was established in 1936-37 by the Works Progress Administration (WPA), a government administration that helped establish school districts during the Great Depression. Our current school building was completed in 2011, and the annex building was completed in 2017. Recently, our district has made numerous safety upgrades to create a secure learning environment for our students.

Highland has been recognized nationally for its excellence, receiving the prestigious Blue Ribbon Award in 2015. Our District of Innovation initiative continues to drive our commitment to student success.

At Highland, we instill the values of respect, integrity, service, and excellence in every student. We look forward to building futures together for all succeeding generations!
